Light Spring

Light Spring belongs to light, warm coloring — golden blond or light warm-brown hair, fair skin that flushes peach rather than pink, and light eyes with warmth in them. It is delicate coloring with sunshine in it, flattered by color that is light, warm, and alive rather than deep or gray.

Everything here has a drop of gold stirred in, which is what sets it apart from Light Summer’s cool pastels. Apricot, butter yellow, coral red, warm turquoise, and clear apple green feel like the first warm week of the year. The neutrals are warm ivory and light camel.

Its sister seasons are the two directions the light and the warmth can grow: Light Summer cools the palette down, and True Spring turns the warmth and clarity up into full sun.

Build around warm ivory, warm stone, and warm taupe, with golden camel as the deep end of the wardrobe. Everything light and golden in the palette rests easily on these.

One fresh color over one warm light neutral is the easiest outfit there is: coral red with warm ivory, or apricot against warm stone. Keep both halves light and the warmth carries it.

Skip black and dusty grays; they flatten this delicate coloring. Reach for salmon pink and clear sky blue when you want the outfit to wake up.
