Soft Summer
Also called Muted Summer.
Soft Summer belongs to muted, cool-leaning coloring — ash-brown or dark blond hair, cool-neutral skin, and soft gray, blue-gray, or hazel eyes. The tell is that bright color overwhelms the face while grayed color flatters it: a muted blue does more for a Soft Summer than any vivid shade ever will.
It is the coolest of the muted palettes, as gentle as Soft Autumn but without the golden cast. Slate navy, soft rose, mauve, and muted sea green all look slightly softened, like a coastline seen through mist.
Its sister seasons mark the two roads out of the mist: Soft Autumn adds warmth while keeping things muted, and True Summer keeps the coolness while adding a little more color clarity.

Wearing it
Build on soft white, taupe grey, and cocoa grey, with deep spruce grey standing in for black. The palette’s quiet grays do the heavy lifting. They make every other color look deliberate.
Pair one misty color with one gray neutral: dusty teal with soft white, or muted rose red against taupe grey. Keep the contrast gentle.
Skip orange and anything neon; heat and voltage both overwhelm this coloring. Reach for soft plum and storm blue when you want depth with the mist intact.
Sister seasons: Soft Autumn and True Summer.
